英文摘要PURPOSE:To perform light logic modulation, light detection, and magnetic flux detection with high sensitivity at high speed, by converting, into a laser beam, energy which is chosen by exciton polaritons produced by coherently coupling an electromagnetic field and an exciton state which electrons and holes form, and by applying an electromagnetic physical quantity such as a magnetic field, an electromagnetic wave, etc., as a modulating means. CONSTITUTION:TM polarized lightweight excitons subjected to resonance excitation with light of a wavelength of 753nm as exciting light 10, using an AlGaAs double-hetero-laser with a collimator as an exciting light source 9, to make lightweight excitons in a quantum well layer 20 subjected to resonance excitation at the time of TM polarization, energy-relax to heavy excitons after relaxation to TE polarization. And polariton light emission to which the TE polarized heavy excitons are related is observed. Modulated light 17 induces magnetic flux on the surface of a board 1, and modulates the strength of the output laser beam 12 in a time region of subpicoseconds.
