英文摘要PURPOSE:To stably reduce the modulation distortion of a laser diode and to set the control temperature of a laser diode and etalon almost to room temperature even if the ambient temperature of the laser diode module for optical transmission varies. CONSTITUTION:The projection light of the laser diode 1 is collimated by a collimator lens 4 into a parallel beam, which passes through the etalon 11 and an optical isolator 6 and is coupled with an optical fiber 3. The light output of the laser diode 1 has modulation distortion, but this modulation distortion is reduced by the etalon 11 which varies in transmissivity depending upon the wavelength. The laser diode 1 and etalon 11 are installed on the same temperature control means 2 and the oscillation wavelength of the laser diode 1 and the transmission characteristics of the etalon are held stable. Further, etalon which has minus variation in the optical path length between reflecting surfaces with temperature is used as the etalon 11 and the set temperature of a temperature control means 2 is set almost to the room temperature.
