英文摘要PURPOSE:To correct deterioration of coupling occurring in the case of securing two lenses by inserting a distortion wedge plate in which one or both sides of a transparent plate is formed in a concave or convex state, between the two lenses for optically coupling first and second semiconductor optical amplifier elements. CONSTITUTION:After lenses 5, 8 are secured to a base 13, a distortion wedge plate 7 is inserted between the lenses 5 and 8, and its positions, directions, and inclinations are regulated to correct coupling of semiconductor optical amplifier elements (TWA) 4, 9. Here, the plate 7 is formed of a transparent plate made of optical glass or optical plastic 7, and one or both sides of the plate are formed in a smoothly varied concavely curved surface. A signal light incident to the plate 7 is altered in a desired direction by the curved surface to correct coupling of the TWSs 4, 9. After the coupling is regulated, the plate 7 is secured to the base 13. Thus, deterioration of the coupling between the TWAs 4 and 9 can be easily corrected.
