英文摘要A module (10) which holds an optical fiber (18) and a laser (20) in alignment to couple light energy emitted from the laser (20) to an end of the fiber (18). The fiber (18) is held within a metal ferrule (22). The fiber (18) and the laser (20) are aligned by means of a metal platform (28) to which both the ferrule (22) and the laser (20) are secured. The ferrule (22) is secured to the platform (28) by means of thin flexible washers (48,50) which compensate for thermal expansion mismatch along the axis of the fiber (18). In addition, by using dissimilar metals to form the platform (28), transverse thermal expansion matching is attained.
