英文摘要This invention includes: a laser array in which a plurality of single mode lasers are arranged in parallel; a first semiconductor chip including a first optical coupler connected to one end of the laser array and a second optical coupler connected to the other end of the laser array, a first output light being emitted from the first optical coupler and a second output light being emitted from the second optical coupler; a second semiconductor chip having an optical circuit optically coupled to the first semiconductor chip, the second semiconductor chip returning at least some of the second output light entering the optical circuit from the first semiconductor chip to the first semiconductor chip; and a second optical amplifier connected to the second optical coupler. A single mode laser is selected from the laser array, the operation temperature of the single mode laser is controlled, the wavelength of the first output light and the second output light are changed, at least some of the second output light is reflected into the second semiconductor chip, and at least some of the second output light returned to the first semiconductor chip from the second semiconductor chip has the intensity thereof adjusted in the second optical amplifier and is returned to the selected single mode laser.
