英文摘要PURPOSE:To prevent a light emitting means from careless damaging and to prevent fast deterioration by detecting the quantity of light from the light emitting means, and stopping the light emitting operation of the light emitting means when the detecting level exceeds a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:The inverted optical recording device modulates laser light projected from a semiconductor laser 1 by switching laser injection current I in accordance with a video signal supplied to a terminal 5 by a laser driving circuit 4. A photodetecting element 2 receives the laser light, detects the output level, and when the detected signal reaches a reference voltage VREF previously setp up to a level value obtained when the limited quantity of light is made incident to the photodetecting element 2, an output is obtained from a comparator 9. The output is extended by a mono-stable multivibrator 11, and during the extended prescribed period, an inverted output of the multivibrator 11 is supplied to an AND circuit 6 and also supplied to a light emitting diode 15 through an inverter 14. Consequently, the driving of the semiconductor laser 1 is precisely stopped and the lighting of the light emitting diode 15 can be precisely observed.
