英文摘要PURPOSE:To stabilize the quantity of laser light and to reduce the failure rate of a semiconductor laser by turning off a switching means provided between a comparison output between a converted output of the semiconductor laser and an optical output setting reference voltage and an integration output in response to the said comparison output level while the laser is modulated and turning on it at a pre-period with no modulation or a part of the period. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor laser diode 344 consists of a light emitting laser diode main body 259 and a monitor photodiode 260 being a photodetecting means monitoring the output beam intensity from the laser diode 259. A high frequency transistor 257 applies optical modulation of the laser diode 259. A drain D and a source S are brought into a low resistance of high speed analog switches 254, 255, 256 to provide modulation to the laser diode 259 when a high level voltage is impressed to a gate G and they ate turned on. When a low level voltage is impressed to the gate G, the resistance is higher conversely and they are turned off.
