英文摘要PURPOSE:To decrease the loss of power of an electric current driving measure for modulation, and improve the response, by a method wherein when the modulation of laser light is carried out, the electric current driving measure which flows the electric current to a semiconductor laser under threshold value electric current generating light oscillation is always driven as well as the electric current driving measure which is connected with this in parallel is ON/OFF controlled. CONSTITUTION:The first electric current driving measure 257 which flows the electric current under the threshold value, in which a semiconductor laser 259 generates light oscillation, to the semiconductor laser 259, and the second electric current driving measure 258 connected to the electric current driving measure 257 in parallel, are provided, and when the modulation of the laser light is carried out, the first electric current driving measure 257 is always driven as well as the second electric current driving measure 258 is made ON/OFF controlled. Hereby, sufficient modulation operation can be carried out even if small electric power transistor is used for the second electric current driving measure 258. Furthermore, since it is possible to make small the driving current of the second electric driving measure, the responsibility can be improved than in the case the modulation is carried out by one transistor, and also the control of minute light output will be possible.
