英文摘要PURPOSE:To elevate tone reproducibility of image by equipping an optical filter to intercept the light of lower wavelength side than that of oscillation laser light in laser oscillation threshold electric current in an optical path of laser light. CONSTITUTION:An interference filter 4 composed of the laminated layers of plural pieces of dielectric films is equipped in the optical path of laser light B0. The filter is a sharp cut type one whose transmittivity tau is suddenly changed on the near border of a certain wavelength lambda0 to intercept the light on the band side of low wavelength. The wavelength lambda0 is designed to be almost equal to wavelength of oscillation laser light in the oscillation threshold current Ith of laser light. Therefore, the output character of laser light passed through the filter 4 becomes linear over almost all the parts of output range of a semiconductor laser Thus, as compared with the conventional one, modulation of strength of oscillation laser light can be performed, and image of higher tone reproducibility can be obtained in wider range.
