英文摘要PURPOSE:To obtain a stable laser output with a constant level by applying a DC bias to a semiconductor laser at an oscillation threshold value or below and superimposing a high frequency current caused by high speed thereupon. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor laser 10 is subject to DC bias by a current I0 below the oscillation threshold value by a bias current source 6. The high frequency current is generated by using a switching circuit 8 to switch a current I1 from a constant current source 7 with a signal from a high frequency oscillator 9 in high speed and the high frequency current is impressed to the semiconductor laser 10 while being superimposed on the said bias current I0. The high frequency current I1 is a value not exceeding the said threshold value when the bias current I0 is interrupted and a value sufficient for the oscillation at a prescribed level. Thus, the output light intensity of the semiconductor laser is made constant.
