英文摘要PURPOSE:To lessen the variation of output by thermal connection of luminous elements by a method in which the keeping of drive current in luminous elements is released every given shorter time periods than the time constant of thermal connection of each luminous element in a semiconductor laser array. CONSTITUTION:During an information writing period TA, semiconductor luminous elements 11 and 12 are modified by information signals from a signal processing circuit 7 by means of drive circuits 13 and 14, and information is written in a photographic drum 3. The oscillating frequency of an oscillator 19 is determined so that the output control time of the elements 11 and 12 becomes shorter than the time TB not to write information. When the current of the elements 11 and 12 is kept at the information writing time TA, the variation in the output of the elements 11 and 12 by effect of thermal connection is lessened and kept constant all the time. Since the drive current of the elements 11 and 12 is controlled by releasing the keeping of the drive current every given time period shorter than the thermal connection time constant of each luminous element in the semiconductor laser array, the variation in the output with thermal connection of the luminous elements can be lessened.
