英文摘要PURPOSE:To prevent a stray light to be a noise to a detecting signal by providing a preventing means between a light emitting element and a light receiving element to prevent the propagation of a light incident on the light receiving element from the light emitting element arranged on the main surface of a semiconductor substrate through a protective layer. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 7a, which is from a laser semiconductor chip 5 arranged on the main surface of a semiconductor substrate 2, is reflected by a semitransmittable reflecting surface 6a of a prism 6 and projected on an optical disk as an incoming laser beam. The reflected light reflected by the disk is transmitted through a surface 6a of the prism 6 and is made incident on a photodetecting element 3a. The transmitting light reflected hear is reflected with a surface 6c of the prism 6 and made incident or a photodetecting element 3b and the data corresponding to the pit of a disk is detected. Since a groove part 8 is provided on transparent protective layers 9 and 10 so as to surround the circumference of the photodetecting elements 3a and 3b or the groove part 8a is provided along the width direction of the substrate 2, and a stray light 14 propagating in the transparent protective layers 9 and 10 is prevented by the groove parts 8 and 8a and the light can not reach the photodetecting elements 3a and 3b.
