英文摘要PURPOSE:To make the time required by a semiconductor laser for power setting shorter so that the following-up property of the laser can be improved by causing the 2nd output controlling circuit and 2nd D/A converter to make power setting after power setting is once performed by means of the 1st and 2nd output controlling circuits and the 1st and 2nd D/A converters. CONSTITUTION:An optical output which is close to a desired optical output is produced by means of the 1st output controlling circuit 15 and the 1st D/A converter 18 and thereafter, the desired optical output is further produced by means of the 2nd output controlling circuit 25 and 2nd D/A converters 28. After the desired optical output is obtained, the output is controlled by means of the 2nd output controlling circuit 25, and only when the output exceeds a controlling range, the output is controlled by means of the 1st output controlling circuit 15. Therefore, output control is performed so that a desired optical output can be obtained quickly, and thus, stable power setting is executed.
