英文摘要PURPOSE:To always output a stable light independent of temperature change by controlling bias current varying means and modulation current varying means, and driving a bias current and a modulating current at a preset ratio based on varying characteristic due to the temperature change of driving current-light output characteristics of a semiconductor laser. CONSTITUTION:Bias current varying means 12 and modulation current varying means 13 for varying a bias current and a modulating current at preset ratios based on varying characteristic due to temperature change of driving current- light output characteristic of a semiconductor laser 1 are provided. The light output of the laser 1 is periodically monitored by monitoring means 5. When the light output is varied from a predetermined value, the means 12, 13 are controlled to vary the bias current and the modulating current to maintain the peak value of the light output of the laser 1 constant. Thus, a stable and constant light output is always obtained as the light output of the laser 1 independent of temperature change.
