英文摘要PURPOSE:To sufficiently reduce noise by detecting modulation factor of a semiconductor laser driving current when a high frequency superposing circuit is turned OFF, and controlling a high frequency current superposing amount according to the modulation factor. CONSTITUTION:When a high frequency current superposing circuit 12 is turned OFF by a high frequency superposing ON/OFF signal, only a DC current by a semiconductor laser driving circuit 13 flows to a semiconductor laser 1 Further, a holding circuit 16 becomes a holding mode to hold an output signal of a control circuit 15 immediately before the mode. The light emitting amount of the laser 11 is detected by a photodetector 14, and this detection signal is input to a modulation factor control circuit 17. The circuit 17 compares the light emitting amount of the laser 11 when a high frequency current is superposed on a DC current with a light emitting amount of the laser 11 when it is not superposed to control the circuit 12 when the former is not sufficiently smaller than the latter, thereby so regulating it as to increase the superposing amount of the high frequency current. If the former is excessively smaller, the circuit 12 is controlled to reduce the high frequency current. Then, the circuit 12 is turned ON to control the light emitting amount of the laser 1
