| 英文摘要 | There is provided a laser that can produce a laser beam having a ring-shaped cross section and polarized in a radial direction. An active layer (53) and a laser oscillation portion (60) including a two-dimensional photonic crystal (55) having circular holes (552) disposed in a tetragonal lattice pattern are provided between two electrodes (571, 572). On the laser oscillation portion (60), a first polarization control layer (581) serving as a half-wavelength plate and a second polarization control layer (582) having a high-speed axis (592) directed toward a 45-degree direction with respect to the high-speed axis (591) of the first polarization control layer (581) and serving as a half-wavelength plate are provided. When a voltage is applied between the electrodes, a ring shaped laser beam polarized in a circumference direction is emitted from the laser oscillation portion (60). This laser beam passes through the first polarization control layer (581) and the second polarization control layer (582), thereby the direction of the polarization is converted to the radial direction. The diameter of the obtained laser beam can be reduced to be smaller than the diffraction limitation by a condenser lens, so that it can be suitably used for, for example, an optical pickup. |
