英文摘要A solid-state lighting device has: a semiconductor laser (11) that can discharge laser light in a blue-violet to blue wavelength range; a heat conduction part (34); and a wavelength conversion layer (32). The wavelength conversion layer includes a first surface (32a) and a second surface (32b) and has a thickness t1 (m), surface area S (m2), and thermal conductivity sigma1 (Wm-1K-1). The luminous flux of the laser light irradiating the second surface is absorbed, light with a converted wavelength discharged, and heat also generated. Letting Lv (cd·m-2) be the perpendicular brightness for the light emitting surface on the second surface for mixed light of wavelength converted light and scattered light that is generated by multiple reflection or multiple scattering by the wavelength conversion layer and when etath (W·lm-1) is the thermal conversion efficiency, which is the amount of heat generated by the wavelength conversion layer divided by the luminous flux, Lv >= 40 × 106 and (t1/sigma1) × etath <= 2 × 10-6/pi(m2·K·lm-1) hold true.
