英文摘要Provided is an optical element which highly efficiently radiates light with high directivity and a high degree of linear polarization. This optical element is provided with a plasmon excitation layer (104) which can excite surface plasmons, and an emission layer (107) which is arranged above the plasmon excitation layer (104) and which converts surface plasmons or light generated on the upper surface of the plasmon excitation layer (104) to light of a prescribed emission angle and emits said light. Between the plasmon excitation layer (104) and the emission layer (107), this optical element further comprises an optically anisotropic layer (105) which has at least one optical axis inclined relatively to the lamination direction of the layers.
