英文摘要 | PURPOSE:To reduce the devices in size greatly by obtaining laser light beams of two frequencies whose frequency interval is variable from a semiconductor laser. CONSTITUTION:The projection light 33 from the semiconductor laser device 24 is branched by a beam splitter 25 and laser light 34 (or 36) is detected by a photodetector 30 (or 31) as reference light (or as a signal light beam signal after traveling to and away from a target 27) to obtain a reference light beat signal 35 (or signal light beat signal 37). The phase difference between the beats 35 and 37 is measured by a phase difference meter 32 to measure the distance to the target 27. In this case, a semiconductor laser is used, so the laser light beams of two frequencies are obtained with the small-sized constitution. Both laser light beams are nearly equal in laser light intensity, so light beat with a 100% modulation factor are obtained and the light beat frequency is variable by varying a modulating current. Further, the polarizing directions of the laser light beams of both frequencies are equal to each other, so the light beams are detected, no polarizer is used and the power is utilized effectively. |
