CONSTITUTION:Such a refractive index distribution type lens 1 that the refractive index decreases roughly in proportion to the square of the distance from the optical axis is disposed between a semiconductor laser 2 and an optical fiber 3 by directing its spherical face 11 to the laser 2 side. At this time, the distance l between the laser 2 and the lens 1 is set at the prescribed value determined from the radius (r) of curvature of the spherical face 11 of the lens 1, the refractive index on the central axis and the refractive index of a medium. Thereby, the laser 2 and the fiber 3 are coupled at high efficiency. |
