英文摘要PURPOSE:To make the adjustment of an optical system easy by forming said system in such a way that the beam made incident to two prisms is paralleled with the beam emitting therefrom, and reducing and stopping down the diameter of the beam having the narrower spread angle in the semiconductor laser beams by the effect of the two prisms thereby spotting the same to a circular shape. CONSTITUTION:The beam from a light source 1 is condensed with a coupling lens 2, and passes through prisms 9-1, 9-2, by which the beam diameter within the scanning plane is reduced and the beam arrives at a scanner 3 in the form of moving in parallel with the incident beam. Then, the beam which is made incident to the prisms and the beam which is going to be emitted are both in parallel with the scanning plane; therefore, the adjustment thereof is easy. Since the beam is refracted twice with the two prisms used, each prism is required to have a small reduction ratio. There is also the advantage that the prisms 9-1, 9-2 are not always required to be the same.
