英文摘要PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of process and assembly by fixing the optical fiber facing one of light emitting planes of a laser chip to a stem airtightly with penetrating it through the stem and fixing a pair of conductor bars to which a light accepting element for monitor is attached to the internal ends of a pair of leads of the stem. CONSTITUTION:A heat sink 3 is attached to a main surface of a stem 2 and a laser chip 1 is attached to side planes of the sink 3 through a submount 4. A light accepting element 11 monitors the laser beams emitted from the chip 1 and a cap 17 is attached to the stem 2 air-tightly so as to cover the sink 3, the chip 1 and etc. The optical fiber 6 is fixed ait-tightly to the stem 2 with penetrating through that and the front end faces one of light emitting planes of the chip To an insulating block 14, internal end parts of conductor bars 15, 15 are attached and the element 11 is attached to the internal end of one of the conductor bars 15. The conductor bars 15, 15 are fixed to the internal ends of the leads 11, 11 which are fixed to the stem 2 with being insulated and penetrating through the stem. Thus the cost of process and assembly can be reduced and also the degree of optical coupling can be improved.
