英文摘要PURPOSE:To contrive to reduce the manhour of a semiconductor laser by a method wherein a light-receiving element part, of which a P-N junction is provided on the submount, is formed in the submount and the submount is made to have a light-receiving function itself. CONSTITUTION:A light-receiving part (light-receiving region) 61, of which a P-N junction is provided on an Si submount 6, is formed in the Si submount 6 and the submount 6 is made to have a light-receiving function itself. According to such a constitution, the bonding process for the light-receiving element becomes unnecessary, thereby enabling to contrive a simplification of the semiconductor laser assembly process and the cost reduction thereof.
