英文摘要PURPOSE:To set the direction of an optical beam arriving at an optical element to the optimum one so as to improve the coupling efficiency, by supplying the optical beam radiated from a light emitting element to the optical element after its direction is changed by means of an adjusting means. CONSTITUTION:A selfoc lens holding member 16 is moved in the direction vertical to the optical axis of a selfoc lens 15 and firmly stuck to a stem 11 with an adhesive at the position where the optical beam passing through the selfoc lens 15 becomes parallel with the central axis of an optical fiber 17. The optical fiber 17 is inserted into a pierced hole provided in a columnar body 18 having a flange 18A and firmly stuck in advance to the columnar body 18 so that the end section of the optical fiber 10 is made almost coincident with the end section of the non-flange side of the columnar body 18. Then a cylindrical body 19 is moved in the direction vertical to the central axis of the optical fiber 17 and firmly stuck to the holding member 16 when the cylindrical body 19 comes to the position where the optical beam coming out from the selfoc lens 15 can reach the core of the optical fiber 17.
