| 英文摘要 | PURPOSE:To obtain an optical pulse, whose width is short, stably, by reducing the thickness of a clad at a part of a piece of optical fiber constituting an outer resonator, and attaching an optical non-linear absorbing medium to said part. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 4 as a resonator is coupled to a semiconductor laser A high frequency current, which has a frequency corresponding to the integer times the inverse number of the optical pulse running time in the optical fiber, is injected to the laser 1 from a high frequency current source 8. Thus an optical pulse is generated. At this time, the thickness of a clad at a part of the optical fiber is made thin. An optical non-linear absorbing medium 12 is attached to the thin part of the clad. When the optical pulse passes the part of the medium 12, the loss at the central part of the width of the optical pulse, where the light intensity is high, is small. The loss at the edge parts at the front and rear of the pulse width, where the light intensity is weak, is large. Thus, the optical pulse having the short width can be obtained stably. |
