英文摘要PURPOSE:To prevent opposite-directional light from returning to a light emitting element by using an optical isolator as the optical branching device of a composite module consisting of an optical system composed of plural lenses and the optical branching device and a photodetecting element for the coupling between a light emitting element and an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:Forward light 20 emitted by the light emitting element 1 in the composite module is converted by the 1st lens 2, passed through the optical isolator 13, and converged by the 2nd lens 4 to enter the optical fiber 4. All of the forward light 20 projected by the light emitting element 1, on the other hand, does not enter the optical fiber and backward light 21 which is part of it passes through the 2nd lens 4 and is polarized by the polarizing prism 131 of the optical isolator 13 and photodetected by a photodetecting element 11, so that the photodetected light is multiplexed by both photodetecting element leads 18.
