英文摘要PURPOSE:To dissipate heat generated from an photo-semiconductor element efficiently at low cost, to lower the thermal resistance of the element and to improve reliability by constituting a stem of a composite material in which a material having inferior thermal conductivity and a material having excellent thermal conductivity are joined. CONSTITUTION:A stem 14 is formed by adding plastic working by the compression of a press, etc. from a composite material 13 in which an iron material 12 and a copper material 11 are joined. The surface of an element die-bonding section 15 for the stem 14 takes the sectional shape of the copper material 11, and heat generated by a semiconductor laser element bonded with the element die-bonding section 15 is dissipated efficiently through the copper material 12 of the surface, thus lowering the thermal resistance of the element.
