英文摘要PURPOSE:To make optically coupled state between a photodiode chip and an optical system appropriate by mounting a cap on a cylindrical supporting part of a stem with screws and correcting properly an interval between a lens and an emission diode chip by rotational adjustment. CONSTITUTION:This device is composed of a lead 8, a stem 1 equipped with a cylindrical supporting part 12 as well as a cap 2 equipped with a lens 17. A sub-mount 3 equipped with a chip 4 is fixed at a principal plane of the stem 1 and also conductor layers 6 and 7 of the principal plane as well as the lead 8 are connected by the wire 10. The cap 2 is screwed up to an exterior screw 13 part at the cylindrical supporting part 12 of the stem 1 through an interior screw 15 prepared at the cap. An interval between the chip 4 mounted on the stem 1 and the lens 17 mounted below a ceiling part 14 or the cap 2 varies with the rotation of the cap and an optically coupled state of them is adjusted to make its state most suitable. After adjusting its state, the periphery of the cap 2 is fixed to the cylindrical supporting part 12 by welding with sealant 18 so that no air leaks around the cap and then this approach helps keep such a package airtight.
