英文摘要PURPOSE:To prevent an input light signal and an output light signal from interfering with each other by guiding the TE polarized light output of the optical bistable semiconductor laser (LD), which is turned on by the incidence of TM polarized light, out by an optical path different from the optical path from a light source through a polarization beam splitter. CONSTITUTION:The light from the light source 1 is made incident on the optical bistable LD 3 as the TM polarized light through the polarization beam splitter 2 and the TE polarized light output of the optical bistable LD 3 which is turned on by the incidence of the TM polarized light is guided out by the optical path different from the optical path from the light source 1 through the polarization beam splitter 2. Thus, the TE polarized light output of the optical bistable LD 3 is guided out of the incidence side of the input light signal, i.e. the side of the polarization beam splitter 2, so the light input is never mixed with the light output. Further, the TE polarized light output of the optical bistable LD 3 is guided out by the optical path difference from the optical path from the light source by using the polarization beam splitter 2, so the TE polarized light output of the optical bistable LD 3 is never made incident on the light source and the stable operation of the light source is secured. Consequently, the input light signal and output light signal never interfere with each other.
