英文摘要Lasers are optically pumped by conversion of microwave energy from cavities into visible light. The conversion materials used are pref. GaAs, GaAsP, III-V or II-VI cpd. semiconductors, Ge or Si. The semiconductor material used pref. has a hole-concn. of more than 10 power 19 cm-3. - The converter is pref. also provided with a coating which is transparent to microwaves and highly reflective to visible light or one which is transparent for visible light and reflects microwaves. A cooling gas or liq. is used between the laser and converter.
