英文摘要PURPOSE:To manufacture the optical fiber amplification device at low cost by coupling an optical fiber which is doped with erbium optically with the active area of a semiconductor laser chip. CONSTITUTION:An end surface of the resonator of a semiconductor laser chip 1 shich emits light in a 0.98mum band is coated 2 so that the reflection factor is low to to light in a 53mum band or 55mum band and enough for laser oscillation to light in a 0.98mum band. Therefore, the optical fiber which is doped with erbium is only coupled optically with the active area 7 of the semiconductor laser chip 1 to easily form the optical fiber amplification device. Consequently, assembly adjusting operation is easy and the device can be manufactured at low cost.
