英文摘要PURPOSE:To reduce the effect of naturally emitted light, to spread the output region of laser oscillated light having a large effect in a low light emitting region and to converge the oscillated light into a sufficiently small spot, by providing a polarizing filter on a light path for light emitted from a semiconductor laser. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser 1 emits laser oscillated light in correspondence with an applied current and naturally emitting light. The laser oscillated light is linearly polarized in the direction parallel to a junction plane 3a. Therefore, about 100% of the oscillated light transmits through a polarizing filter 6. Meanwhile, since the naturally emitting light is randomly polarized light, the amount of the light transmitting through the polarizing filter 6 is about l/2 the incident light. Therefore, when the light, which has passed the polarization filter 6, is used, the laser oscillated light reaches the dominant light emitting region in comparison with the case, where the light, which has not passed through the polarization filter 6 is used.Thus, the light even in the low light emitting region can be sufficiently converged at a converging position A.
