英文摘要PURPOSE:To enable stable control of light quantity without being affected by the characteristics of temperature drift specific to a semiconductor laser by performing sequential control of light quantity at a specified slight time interval when the semiconductor laser is converged to a target value. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 1 sets a continuous ON time of internal timer for a semiconductor laser LD to, e.g., 2musec. Next the computer starts A/D conversion of an output from a light intensity conversion circuit 17, and judges if an A/D conversion value agrees to a prestored light quantity control value when the conversion process ends. If both do not agree, the microcomputer judges if the time of the internal timer in up, and if both agree, the microcomputer sets an OFF time of the internal timer for the semiconductor laser LD to, e.g., a few mu seconds after the port B of the microcomputer is disconnected. Then the time count is started. After this, the microcomputer stands by until the time of the internal timer is up and connects the port B, and further selects a continuous ON time of the internal timer for the semiconductor laser LD.
