英文摘要 | PURPOSE:To facilitate fabrication and obtain a highly efficient coupling between a semiconductor laser and a single mode optical fiber by an allowable deviation of position made wider through utilization of a lens system having comparatively long focal length. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 24 has radii W0I, W0II along vertical and horizontal directions of a junction plane, and a beam is converted in radii by a lens 25 into a beam 26 and futhermore into a beam 28 through a lens 27. If a ratio between focal lengthes f1, f2 of lenses 25, 27 is properly preferred, a conversion of beam radius in an arbitrary magnification is possible. Because a beam radius W0 of a single mode optical fiber has the relation W0>W0II>W0I, f2/f1 is prefered so as to satisfy the relation W0=(W2IXW2II). By this constitution because a necessary mounting accuracy of the first lens 29 is relaxed to be looser 10 times or more than a conventional module, mounting yield is remarkably improved, and highly efficient coupling through the second lens 31 to a single mode optical fiber 13 is obtained. |
