英文摘要PURPOSE:To detect a high-quality signal from a disc and to reduce the loss of the quantity of light of the luminous flux used for signal read to improve the efficiency of light use, by feeding back a part of the light of a semiconductor laser to reduce the noise accompanied with the change of the longitudinal mode of the laser. CONSTITUTION:Since the noise level is lowered by feedback of a certain quantity or more in the relation between the level of the feedback noise of the semiconductor laser and the feedback quantity, an optical feedback material 16 consisting of a spherical concave mirror having a hollowed part 12 through which a luminous flux 11 (part THETA) used for reading out a signal from the disc passes is arranged between the semiconductor laser 1 and a coupling lens 2, and a luminous flux 13 which is not incident to the coupling lens 2 is reflected by a reflective face 14 and is fed back to the semiconductor laser
