英文摘要PURPOSE:To enable to perform the positonal adjustment of a light-emitting or light-receiving element and an optical fiber by a method wherein said optical fiber is supported by a rigid supporting member, and then it is supported by a plastic deformation member. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser 11 is mounted on a sheath 10 together with a laser mount 12 and the positioning of the optical fiber is performed in advance in such a manner that an output beam will be coupled in a certain degree with the point part 13 of the optical fiber. The supporting cylinder 14 connected to the circumference of a cylinder 7 is formed using a rigid type of material with which the curve of the center axis of a stainless cylinder 7 and an optical fiber 4 will be elastically connected without generating a steep curved part. Displacements (x) and (y) are given to the plastic deformation member and then they are removed on the inner surface of the (x) and (y) which are intersecting at right angle with the laser beam emitting direction Z using a fine adjustment device while monitoring the fiber output obtained by passing an output laser beam through the optical fiber 4, and the amounts of displacement DELTAx and DELTAy are found out. At the same time, the maximum value is obtained by balancing the increased portion of output while reducing the amount of adjustment successively so as to obtain the maximum value which is in excess of the value estabilished in advance under the state wherein the value of output beam is being monitored.
