英文摘要PURPOSE:To mount and assemble a photosemiconductor element with a heat sink by detecting an electrode formed on the surface of the element by a visual sensor, calculating the center line of the element and the center line of the heat sink with the detected shape as a reference, allowing the optical axis of the element to coincide with the center line of the heat sink accurately and allowing the light emitting end face of the element to coincide with the corresponding end face of the heat sink accurately. CONSTITUTION:An automatic assembling device which contains a calculator such as an industrial robot is used. The optical axis and hence the light emitting center position can be obtained as x2/2, and the light emitting end face and hence the light emitting surface position can be obtained as y2/2+(y1-y2)/2, where the optical axis length of a laser diode 3 is represented by y1, the electrode length along the optical axis is represented by y2, the length of a laser diode chip 3 in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis is represented by x1 and the electrode length of this direction is represented by x2. The obtained values are inputted to the calculator to operate the automatic device such as an industrial robot. Then, the chip 3 can be mounted on the heat sink in high accuracy.
