英文摘要 | PURPOSE:To contrive the thinning of the whole optical isolator by arranging a Faraday rotor and a photodetector dispersedly and fixing a magnetic film to the emitting end plane of a semiconductor laser tightly. CONSTITUTION:An optical isolator is composed of a magnetic film 33, a Faraday rotor, and a photodetector 35 which are arranged dispersedly between a semiconductor laser 31 and optical fibers 32. The magnetic film 33 composing the Faraday rotor is fixed to the emitting end plane of the semiconductor laser 31 tightly. Meanwhile, the photodetector 35 is fixed on the end plane of the optical fibers 32 tightly. The cylindrical magnets 34 are connected to a heat sink 37 as a dissipation member and also function as holding members for a spherical lens 38. The magnetic film 33 is a CdBi thin film. A magnetic field is applied to the film surface of the magnetic film 33 vertically. This Faraday rotor rotates the polarizing plane of the emitted light beam 48 by 45 deg. |
