英文摘要PURPOSE:To always maintain a high degree of optical coupling between a laser diode chip and an optical fiber which leads-in the forward emitting light of the laser diode chip and to permit an stable optical communication by fixing the laser diode chip and the optical fiber on the same supporting member. CONSTITUTION:A laser diode chip 11 is fixed on the main surface of the flat part 9 of a supporting member 8 with an L-type section which is being fixed on a pedestal part 7 with a bonding material 12. A tapered guide hole 15 is provided in th protrusion part 10 of the supporting member 8 in the horizontal direction and an optical fiber 18 consisting of a core 16 and a clad 17 is penetratingly inserted in the guide hole 15 and is fixed with a bonding material 19. If the optical fiber is once fixed in such a way as to lead-in a laser beam 21, which is emitted through the end surface of a resonator 13 of the laser diode chip 11, at a high lead-in efficiency, the optical coupling state (optical coupling factor) of the laser diode chip 11 and the core 16 becomes hard to change thereafter.
