英文摘要PURPOSE:To improve coupling efficiency between an optical fiber and a laser element and to reduce the size of a laser module by spherically working the end faces of a Faraday rotator through which light is passed and providing the spheric surfaces with a lens function. CONSTITUTION:The laser module consists of a DFB laser element 21, a stem 23 including a spheric lens 22 for turning laser beams projected from the element 21 to almost parallel beams, the Farady rotator 25 worked as spheric surfaces at its both the end faces and provided with the lens function, an optical isolator 27 on which a polarizing prism 26 is arranged, and an optical fiber 29 set up on an optical fiber fixing holder 28. Consequently, it is unnecessary to arrange a condenser between the optical isolator 27 and the optical fiber 29 leading the light projected from the isolator 27, so that the size of the laser module can be reduced and the optical communication equipment using the laser module can be reduced at its size.
