英文摘要PURPOSE:To stabilize the light output and responding characteristic of a semiconductor light emitting device by compensating the temperature dependency of the light output by the variation in an optical coupling efficiency due to thermal deformation of a coupling optical system. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting diode 1 having l.3mum of emitting wavelength is mounted on a copper mount 4 made of copper having l7X10/ deg.C of thermal expansion coefficient, and the end of an optical fiber 2 is supported on a quartz glass support 3 having 0.4X10/ deg.C of thermal expansion coefficient. When a driving current is 100mA, the diode 1 so mounted that a P-N junction surface becomes parallel to the mounting surface 4a of the mount 4 has -0.06dB/ deg.C of temperature dependency coefficient of the light output. The height h1 of the mount 4 from the upper end of the junction from the support 3 is 3.7mm, and corresponds to the length for varying 3mum the relative position of the diode 1 with respect to the fiber 2 perpendicularly to the junction surface of the diode
