英文摘要PURPOSE:To enable a semiconductor laser package to be manufactured with inexpensive materials in a manner suitable for mass production and still without deterioration of performance such as resistance to humidity, heat dissipation properties or the like, by covering a semiconductor laser element and a lightreceiving element for monitoring the same totally with a water absorbing material having a high light transmittance such as a transparent gel or the like, and further covering and sealing them with a transparent resin layer. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser element 1 and a lightreceiving element 2 held on a stem 3 are covered totally and simultaneously with a water absorbing material 4 having a high light transmittance, and these are further covered and sealed simultaneously with a transparent resin layer 5. The water absorbing material 4 of a transparent gel for example can absorb or discharge water freely according to a humidity condition in the atmosphere and has excellent heat dissipation properties. Further, since the gel is transparent, the semiconductor laser element 1 which receives light by the light-receiving element 2 is allowed to have an output equivalent to that of conventional devices.
