英文摘要PURPOSE:To easily position a semiconductor laser chip and an input lens on an optical axis by disposing an input lens mounting and supporting member by incorporating the columnar part of a heat sink member in the container of the member in a state that it is brought into contact with the container at two positions in its radial direction. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser chip 30 is fixedly mounted on one end face of a heat sink member 34 which is formed at least partly in a columnar shape, an input lens 38 is mounted on a mounting and supporting member 40, and a container 48 for containing the member 34 in a state that it is brought into contact therewith at two raidal positions is provided at the member 40. The member is displaced with respect to the member 34 to position the chip 30 and the lens 38 on the optical axis, and the member 34 is, after the positioning, physically secured to the member 40 in the container 48. For example, the members 34 and 40 are physically secured by soldering or laser welding, etc.
