英文摘要 | PURPOSE:To improve secondary harmonic conversion efficiency by independently forming a ring type optical resonator for exclusive use as secondary harmonic excitation, and confining laser light in the ring type optical resonator. CONSTITUTION:Optical waveguides 2, 3-1, 3-2 are formed into a square shape on the same plane on a substrate 1, and hence square-shaped ring type resonators 2, 3-1, 3-2 are formed. Lasing is induced in the optical waveguides 3-1, 3-2 of the ring type optical resonators 3-1, 3-2, and secondary harmonic is generated(SHG) in the optical waveguides. For the resonators, since the optical waveguides 2, 3-1, 3-2 are closely disposed and optically coupled, laser light emitted in the ring type optical resonators 3-1, 3-2 is transferred to the ring type optical resonator 2 and oscillated and propagated through the same. The light is used as excitation source to excite SHG in the optical waveguide 2. Laser light induced in the resonator 2 is reflected at the four corners. Laser light is confined in the ring type resonator to improved secondary harmonic conversion efficiency. |
