英文摘要PURPOSE:To improve secondary harmonic conversion efficiency by providing optical waveguides having functions of laser emission, secondary harmonic generation, and optical guide formed on the same flat plane, a laser resonator formed of the laser emission optical waveguide and of the secondary harmonic generation optical waveguide, and means for converging a plurality of lights to a single light. CONSTITUTION:Optical waveguides 11, 13, 16, 17 are formed on the same plane on a substrate 10, and a laser resonator is constructed with the optical waveguides 11, 13. The laser resonators 11, 13 induce lasing, and the optical waveguide 13 induces second harmonic generation(SHG) therein. SHG optical energy is emitted from the end surface of optical waveguide 13 and introduced into an optical waveguide 13 and introduced into an optical waveguide 15. The optical waveguide 15 branches corresponding to a laser exit port on the side of the laser resonators 11, 13, while being converged to form an optical waveguide 16 on the opposite side. Accordingly, a plurality of the SHG lights introduced into the optical waveguide 15 are focused to a single one in the course of their propagation and are adjusted in their phases and spreadings by the optical waveguide 16, and are finally emitted from the end surface as a single light. Thus, secondary harmonic conversion efficiency can be improved.
