英文摘要 | PURPOSE:To form two kinds of different spots with a simple optical system by adopting the constitution that plural array semiconductor layers whose active layer at an output end is different are formed on one substrate and they are used as a light source. CONSTITUTION:A clad layer 2, an active layer 3, a clad layer 4 and a cap layer 5 are laminated sequentially on the substrate 1, and after p/n-type imbedded layers 6, 7 are formed on a slot formed by etching, a p-side electrode 8 is subjected to patterning and an n-side electrode 9 is formed. Since the light spot size of two imbedded type lasers 21, 22 with different width of the active layer 3 differ from the width of light spot, they are collected by one optical system to form a circular or an elliptic spot on the track. Thus, plural beam spots with different shapes are formed on the recording medium from one set of laser light source inexpensively with simple structure. |
