CONSTITUTION:A DBR type semiconductor laser 4 has an active region 5 which performs amplification, and a DBR region 7 which has wave length selecting function based on a diffraction grating 6. A light, which has passed through an antireflection film 10 and entered, is amplified by the active region, subjected to Bragg reflection by the diffraction grating 6 in the DBR region 7, and travels in the active region while being again amplified. This amplified light passes a polarizer 3, and its plane of polarization is subjected to 45 deg. inclination by a Farady rotator 2. As a result, it becomes a vertically polarized wave, and is outputted to a port Y after reflected by a splitter On the other hand, when horizontally polarized wave or vertically polarized wave is inputted to the port Y, it passes the splitter and is not reflected, but it can not pass the polarizer 3, so that it is not amplified by a laser 4. |
