Host-Guest Interaction between Methanol and Metal-Organic Framework Cu3-xZnx(btc)(2) as Revealed by Solid-State NMR

英文摘要 | The host-guest interaction between methanol and metal-organic framework Cu(3-x)Zn(x)btc)(2), which plays essential roles in several important chemical processes such as electrocatalysis, proton conduction, and chemical sensors, was comprehensively studied by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) in combination with quantum chemical calculations. It was found that methanol could be readily coordinated with open metal sites Zn2+ and Cu2+ separately in Cu3-xZnx(btc)(2). The H-1 and C-13 NMR chemical shifts of methanol coordinated with the distinct metal ions in Cu3-xZnx(btc)(2) (x = 0, 0.9, 3) were extracted from two-dimensional hetero- and homonuclear correlation NMR experiments. It was also confirmed that the distribution of Zn2+ and Cu2+ in Cu2.1Zn0.9(btc)(2) is likely in a domain metal arrangement on the basis of the T-1 relaxation measurements and two-dimensional H-1-H-1 homonuclear NMR experiments. Furthermore, Zn2+ instead of Cu2+ site in Cu2.1Zn0.9(btc)(2) should be the primary methanol adsorption site according to the experimental observation and theoretical calculation results. |
