Antidepressant Effect of Yueju Ethanol Extract and Its Constituents in Mice Models of Despair

| 英文摘要 | OBJECTIVE:To study the antidepressant action of Yueju ethanol extract(YJ-E) and its constituent herbs Cyperus rotundus , Ligusticum chuangxiong , Gardenia jasminoides , Rhizoma atractylodis, massa medicata fermentata ). METHODS: 2 behavioral despair animal models(the tail suspension test,TST and the forced swimming test of mice, FST) were used to evaluate antidepressant activities of YJ-E and its constituent herbs ethanol extract. RESULTS: YJ-E and its constituents could decrease the duration of immobility in the TST and FST and showed potent antidepressant effects except for massa medicata fermentata. YJ-E group and Rhizoma atractylodis could significantly reduce the immobility time in the TST, and YJ-E and Ligusticum chuangxiong could significantly reduce the immobility time in FST.CONCLUSION: YJ-E and its constituent herbs( Cyperus rotundus , Ligusticum chuangxiong , Gardenia jasminoides , Rhizoma atractylodis, massa medicata fermentata) have potent antidepressant activities.The active sites/ components of YJ are possibly existed in Rhizoma atractylodis and Ligusticum chuangxiong. |
