英文摘要Major depressive disorder(MDD)is an important public health problem affecting 350 million people worldwide. With the increasing pressure in life and work,the morbidity of MDD has risen year by year,which is estimated to reach 10% of the to-tal population in 2020. MDD will become the world's second top common disease. Due to the unclear mechanism and multiple signal-ing pathways,the MDD treatments have reached an impass. Only 30% of the MDD patients have received effective treatments. In order to provide new ideas for depression research,this paper reviews the recent achievements on the relationship between mitochondrial ab-normalities and depression,including mitochondrial dysfunction,mitochondrial oxidative damage,and mitochondrial defects.
